Where to find the best night out in Brisbane

Everyone knows that finding a place to end the day with a cheeky cocktail is mandatory when you are on holiday! I had some of my best nights out with friends in Brisbane, so I certainly have a list of places that I would suggest. I also got their opinions on where was the best place to go. Below is what we collectively came up with!

1. Alfred and Constance

📍132 Constance Street, Fortitude Valley

Why?

- It’s in an old 2 story Queenslander building with an outdoor patio

- It definitely has more of a relaxed atmosphere but is a good option for a sunny afternoon beer!

2. Archive beer boutique

📍100 Boundary Street, West End

Why?

- It’s not the spaciest venue, but it does have a really great atmosphere & super fun wallpaper.

- Wide selection of craft beers & a couple of pool tables.

- Weekend it gets very crowded but in a good way.

3. Blackbird

📍123 Eagle Street, Brisbane CBD

Why?

- A really fancy, beautiful place with a great view of the story bridge!

- You definitely pay for the location but its well worth it, especially if it’s for a special occasion.

- It has really lush, black couches perfect for an insta snap if you can nab one!

4. Brooklyn Standard

📍Eagle Lane, Brisbane 

Why?

- It’s open 6 nights a week & has live music every-single-day!

- Its tucked away down an alley and is pretty tiny but there are booths all down one side and the rest is basically dance floor. 

5. X-Cargo

📍37 McLachlan Street, Fortitude Valley

Why?

- It’s a unique concept, it’s all outside but the bar & the toilets are inside shipping containers

- Still has a dance floor and everything else you could want on a night out but there are fairy lights hanging up everywhere – It is aesthetically pleasing, I’m a fan.

6. Down Under bar

📍308 Edward Street, Brisbane CBD

Why?

-This is a controversial inclusion 🤣, it isn’t considered the classiest of places, but it can be a lot of fun and a great way to meet new people.

- It is right next to the central station and is attached to a hostel so it’s full of international travellers, on any day of the week.

- It’s also cheap! Just try it for a drink & if it’s not your vibe, there’s plenty more options.

7. Eleven Rooftop bar

📍757 Ann Street, Fortitude Valley

Why?

- Eleven rooftop bar is very pricey but has a really good view of the city, so again... you pay for location.

- I would suggest it for just a cocktail then move on to a more affordable place. Or, treat yourself and stay there all night with the high rollers. You do you, boo.

8. The End bar

📍73 Vulture Street, West End

Why?

- The End bar is very rustic, they have incorporated this vibe into the entire establishment.

- It only has seating for 60 so it will never be very busy but the fit out is relaxed and inviting.

- Also known for their cocktails, a personal favourite is the ‘The End Spring punch’.

9. Howard Smith Wharves

📍5 Boundary Street, Brisbane

Why?

- It’s directly beneath the Story bridge so it has stunning views

- There is a choice of 5 great venues along the water. Just add it to the list of must-see places, it won’t disappoint!

10. Irish Murphy’s

📍175 George Street, Brisbane CBD

Why?

- 3 different bars over 3 levels

- The décor inside transports you overseas.

- It’s got a really fun atmosphere, but not always the youngest crowd unlike some of the other options.

- It’s right in the heart of the CBD so it’s within walking distance to get there from any of the city hostels.

- It is open until 2am every night and has live music nights.

11. Little Big House

📍271 Grey Street, Southbank

Why?

- An Australian celebrity chef opened this bar and it gained success as a venue that doesn’t overpower the location, rather blending into it.

- It has a tin roof and a veranda, inside the furniture is a mix of old and new. It’s definitely worth it to stop by if you are over exploring Southbank!

12. Riverbar & Kitchen

📍71 Eagle Street, Brisbane

Why?

- It’s somewhat outdoors and somewhat indoors

- It’s near the river and the bridge so it looks super pretty 

- It has cocktail jugs for a very reasonable price and delicious burgers.

- ** Bonus idea is to catch the city cat from the city around to it so you can see the beautiful views of the skyline as you come around the corner.

13. The Plough Inn

📍Sidon Street, Southbank

Why?

- This is one of those bars that has lines out the door on a warm summer day for a reason.

- There's 2 levels, outdoor undercover seating and has big 8-seater tables so it’s suited for groups.

- The food service can get a little slow around peak times but there is a large drinks menu to keep you occupied whilst you wait.

- They have live bands on the weekend.

14. Sixteen Antlers

📍Corner of Ann & Roma Street, Brisbane CBD

Why?

- The sixteen antlers rooftop bar is attached to the Pullman hotel, it's super lovely and has a great view of the city lights.

- It can get a little squishy when its busy, but the space does wrap around the corner making it possible to spread out fairly well.

- Try their arancini balls! Deeelish.  

15. Southbank beer garden

📍Stanley Street plaza, Southbank

Why?

- I adore this place! It has the most relaxing atmosphere

- Some live music on the weekend

- A really great cocktail menu.

- It has a middle section where the bar is but then also has a slightly raised terrace with booths. I have had many a Sunday sesh begin at this place.
